Gratitude for My Life

Dr. Tae Yun Kim always teaches to have gratitude in your life and to Celebrate Every Living Breath as if it were your last… and here are 2 examples why this is so important! My heart and prayers go out to all the victims of these crimes…may God bless those who died and the survivors that have to deal with the aftermath. *************************************************************** On Sat. morning, 9/30, a 50-year-old man from California was driving to Oregon to visit family but ran out of gas near Callahans Lodge in Ashland, OR. He went into the lobby to used the phone,...

Conquer Your Own Weaknesses and Fears Rather Than Others

I started training at Jung SuWon Martial Art Academy in 1991. One of the first things I learned about was the Principles of Mental Conduct.  The first principle is this: Conquer your own weaknesses and fears rather than others. Dr. Tae Yun Kim teaches that it is important to look at your self rather than looking at other people. Instead of pointing the finger at other people’s weaknesses or pointing out their mistakes, look at your own mistakes first. It is important to conquer your own fears and witnesses because that is how you will grow. For example, if you...

Celebrating Every Living Breath…AMEN

Dr. Tae Yun Kim says this all the time:  “Celebrate every living breath as if it were your last.” Recently, there have been severe natural weather disasters all around the globe… Hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, fires… Unless you were actually in one of the disasters, it’s hard to appreciate the true dangers that were present and the value of life.  My parents live near Orlando, Florida. They happened to go visit my sister and her family in San Diego before the hurricane reached Florida… But the warnings became stronger for everyone in Florida to flee… That was during the time when my parents’ return flight to Orlando was.  But while everyone was trying to escape Florida, my parents didn’t even flinch and flew back to Orlando ignoring my sister’s pleas to stay in San Diego with her.  I only learned about this because my dad texted all us kids to let us know that they arrived safely.  But then he texted that it was eerily quiet on the streets… And really black, no lights… My heart jumped when I read that. What if it was the eye of the storm? What if it was the quiet before the real hurricane hit? That’s when my Master’s teachings jumped out at me.  When you know danger is present, why do you meet it head on?  If there is a pile of dog...

Setting Priorities

Have you ever experienced the power of water? In Dr. Tae Yun Kim‘s seminars, she often asks the question: if you were stranded in the desert for five days, what is the one thing you would most desire? $1 million? A prime rib steak? Or a cool glass of water? Logically, the answer is water. I had the opportunity recently to do some volunteer work for several hours outside in about 100+ degree weather. I had forgotten to bring my water bottle. At first I didn’t really think anything of it…until the sweat was pouring down my face. And...

Freedom – Are You Willing To Fight For It?

Freedom. It’s something we enjoy every day as Americans. We can pretty much do what we want to in our lives. We all have the choice. Go to school. Get a job. Get married. Raise kids. Or not. Some people choose to not go to school, to not get a job or get married or have kids. That’s okay. That’s their CHOICE. That’s what freedom is all about. But Freedom isn’t “free”. There is a price that we must pay. The problem is, unless you pay from your own pocket, it’s hard to recognize or appreciate the...
