Energy and Environment!

Energy and Environment!

Dr. Tae Yun Kim , who I am  lucky to have as my mentor teaches that often we unknowingly pick up energy from others. The environment(s) we are in also are full of energy and this energy can affect us:

“We can get so accustomed to the energetic quality of our surroundings that we aren’t aware of its effect. You may have noticed that certain rooms in your home or other homes agree or disagree with you. You many have noticed there are certain stores and restaurants that affect you harmoniously or adversely. There are specific reasons why.

“All the objects in any particular environment are made of energy, radiate energy, and absorb energy. After spending some time in a certain room and finding your mood is changing, you will most likely say, “what’s wrong with me?” The problem may be due to a particular energy from the room and not something personal. For instance furniture bears the energetic imprint of the person who crafted it as well as other owners or users of it. Have you notice that sometimes you are attracted – or repelled – by a piece of furniture (or some other object) by ‘something’ other than just its aesthetic value? You may find yourself saying, ‘I don’t know why but I just like [dislike] this piece.’ Many times you are responding to energy carried by the object…” page 54, “The First Element,” By Dr. Tae Yun Kim.

When I read the above passage, I remember an apartment I rented right after college, before I had read “Seven Steps to Inner Power” by Dr. Kim and before I started training at Dr. Kim’s Jung Suwon Martial Arts Academy.

On the surface everything looked good. It was a good apartment in a nice neighborhood. It didn’t make sense to me at the time, but for whatever reason I never liked the second bedroom in that apartment. I felt fine in the rest of the apartment, but I avoided that one room instinctively.

I have no idea what might have occurred in that room before I rented the apartment, but even though I felt a little silly at the time, I could never shake that when I was in that room I started to agitated, on edge/edgy and uncomfortable.

I always remember that apartment when I read the passage Dr. Kim wrote, above. And it reminds me to be aware of my environment and how I feel in different environments, so that I can guard my own feelings/attitude and my own energy.
