Gratitude for My Life

Gratitude for My Life

Dr. Tae Yun Kim always teaches to have gratitude in your life and to Celebrate Every Living Breath as if it were your last… and here are 2 examples why this is so important!

My heart and prayers go out to all the victims of these crimes…may God bless those who died and the survivors that have to deal with the aftermath.

On Sat. morning, 9/30, a 50-year-old man from California was driving to Oregon to visit family but ran out of gas near Callahans Lodge in Ashland, OR. He went into the lobby to used the phone, went back to his car, got a rifle, went back into the lodge and killed the 40-year-old cook, then took the cook’s car and drove away.

The cook didn’t know the man; the shooter only stopped at Callahan’s because he ran out of gas!

He drove about 6 miles south on I-5, parked in the middle of the freeway, got out of the car with the rifle and waited for oncoming traffic.

He shot at the first vehicle that approached him… a man in a truck with his son. The shooter hit the truck 3 times, then the driver of the truck sped forward and hit the shooter, killing him with his truck.

On Sunday evening, 10/1, during an outdoor concert near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, a 64-year-old man used automatic weapons and rifles to shoot at the audience of over 22,000 people from his 32nd floor hotel room window at Mandalay Bay. So far, 58 people have died with more than 500 injured. This is the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history to date.

He committed suicide before the police broke into his room.

The suspect’s brother said he had no military background or anything like that and said he wasn’t an avid gun guy.

Two random shootings that seem to have no meaning, purpose or intent. Since the shooters were both killed, we will never know for sure “why” they did what they did.

But they did it.  And people were killed.

Dr. Tae Yun Kim cautions everyone to be aware of your surroundings, to be careful in crowd situations, and to always know where the exits are.

I’m sure that cook at Callahans did NOT wake up that morning thinking that he would be killed in just a few hours…

I’m sure the driver of the truck did NOT expect to be shot at by a man holding a rifle on the highway…or that he would kill someone with his truck that day…

I’m sure the 22,000 fans of the concert did NOT expect to be shot at during the concert…

But it happened.

Since we can never know what might happen in the next day, the next hour or the next minute, how important it is to have GRATITUDE for your life and to Celebrate every moment. Why spend time filled with negative emotions?

I’m grateful for my teacher, Great Grandmaster Dr. Tae Yun Kim because she has taught me to appreciate my life and to have gratitude for the people around me.
